Art Classes for Children & Teens
The CMA offers Young Artists Studio Classes throughout the year, with most courses beginning in mid-January, late-April/early-May, and September. With courses available in a wide range of media, scheduled for weekdays and weekends throughout the day and evening, there's a class to fit every schedule, budget, and interest!

Summer Art Camp 2013
Session 1: June 25 – 28 (No Class Mon.)
Session 2: July 1 – 5 (No Class Thur.)
Session 3: July 9 – 12 (No Class Mon.)
Students ages 6 to 15 are invited to enroll.
Students 9 years of age and older may register to attend both a morning and an afternoon class.
Cost per class is $75.

Ocean Blue (Ages 6 – 8)

Let’s scuba dive into the ocean blue to discover the fish and creatures that call this their home. Students will explore the sea and beaches, drawing, painting, and sculpting what lives under the surface and on the shores. Cost: $75.

Yummy Art! (Ages 6 – 8)

Art can be a feast for the eyes! In this class, we will focus on design, color, and pattern as we create artwork too beautiful to eat! Some of the scrumptious projects will include cupcake paintings, pizza collages, and hamburger/French-fry sculptures! Yum! Cost: $75.

Art Safari (Ages 9 – 11)

Explore the CMA exhibit Joseph O’Sickey: Unifying Art, Life and Love and other places in the museum to find jungle animals in paintings and sculptures! Create your own safari creatures and scenes in the studio with paint, mixed-media sculpture and printmaking. Cost: $75.

Earth-Friendly Art (Ages 12 & Up)

Students will learn about the environment and about making eco-friendly choices in and out of the art room. Students will create found object art and projects involving the three R's. Make amazing art and help the Earth! Cost: $75.

Join us as we explore bugs from afar and transform their unusual features into masterpieces! Students will “go buggy” as they look for patterns in nature and examine the designs on butterflies and other insects. If it flies or buzzes we will draw it, print it, and sculpt it. Cost: $75.

The Art of Paris (Ages 9 – 11)

Bonjour! Grab your beret and join us for an interactive trip to Paris! We will make art in the style of the artists from the Louvre, Musee de L’Orangerie and the Musee d’Orsay as we discover the City of Light. No passport necessary! Cost: $75.

Up, Up, and Away! (Ages 9 – 11)

The sky is the limit for creativity! In this class, students will explore the atmosphere above us. Projects will include paper maché, origami, and Starry Night inspired paintings. Cost: $75.

This is the class that takes art beyond a piece of paper! Students will have the opportunity to create artwork that can be seen from all sides as they build and sculpt their projects! Make spectacular sculptures using collage, relief sculpture, paper mache, and more! Cost: $75.

Fun with Fabric (Ages 12 & Up)

Join this class to learn lots of fun techniques to use on fabric! Students will learn about tie-dye, wax resist, batik, and take home wearable art! Students must supply their own white T-Shirt (cotton is preferred) for the tie-dye project. Cost: $75.

Art Like An Egyptian (Ages 9 – 11)

Discover ancient Egypt! Make blueprints for your personal pyramid, design jewelry for your inner King Tut or Queen Nefertiti, or make a paper mache mummy case to become immersed in the art and culture. Cost: $75.

Silk Screening Workshop (Ages 12 & Up)

Find out everything you’ve ever wanted to know about frames, squeegees, and ink in the versatile media of silk screen. Silk screen is one media that can be used to print designs on virtually any surface. Class projects will include Pop Art portraits ala Andy Warhol, T-Shirt and poster design! Students must supply their own white T-Shirt (cotton is preferred). Cost: $75.

Drawing and Painting Outdoors (Ages 12 & Up)

Work in the tradition of Joseph O’Sickey as you draw and paint directly from life. Using the CMA exhibit Joseph O’Sickey: Unifying Art, Life and Love, students will use a variety of materials to learn about composition, texture, color, and light. The class will meet in a CMA classroom to gather materials and then go outside to work. On rainy days the class will go to interesting locations inside the building. Cost: $75.

CLASS & WORKSHOP POLICIES
ENROLLMENT Each class must have at least six (6) students. If the minimum enrollment requirement is not met, the class will be canceled. Registrants will be notified if the class is canceled 48 hours before the scheduled starting date and receive a full refund.
FEES are due at the time of registration. You may mail in a check or credit card number with the registration form, stop in to the office and pay with cash, check, credit card, or call 330-453-7666 with your credit card.
MATERIALS are included in class fees.
REGISTRATION ends one week before class begins.
WITHDRAWAL/REFUND POLICY To withdraw from a class and receive a full refund, you must contact the CMA by the registration deadline. Full refunds for students withdrawing from a class after the registration deadline will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
