Veterans & Active-Duty Ceramics Program – Participation Rules

The Alpha-Romeo-Tango (A.R.T.) Ceramics Program is exclusively for U.S. veterans and active-duty service members, funded by the National Endowment for the Arts and Creative Forces.

1. 10 Core Spots (FREE)

  • Reserved exclusively for verified U.S. veterans or active-duty personnel.

  • Includes clay, tools, glazes, firings, and instruction.

2. Spouse / Partner Add-On (Paid, Limited) *Scholarships are available - inquire with Amanda Crowe, amanda@cantonart.org

  • Maximum 2 spouse slots per 8-week session (first-come, first-served).

  • Cost: $85 per person (covers clay, glazes, 2 bisque + 2 glaze firings). Approximately $8.50 per class.

  • Must register at the same time as the eligible veteran.

  • Spouses create alongside veterans but do not count toward grant hours.

3. Children Age 12+ (Paid, Case-by-Case Approval) * *Scholarships are available - inquire with Amanda Crowe, amanda@cantonart.org

  • One child per veteran maximum.

  • Child works at the veteran’s table and is supervised by the veteran.

  • Child must follow all studio rules.

  • Cost: $42 per person (covers clay, glazes, 2 bisque + 2 glaze firings). Approximately $4.20 per class.

4. Wait-List & Caps

  • Studio capped at 10 total students (approved ratio).

  • Veterans always bump to the top of the wait-list.

Spring Schedule: Wednesdays 2/25, 3/4, 3/11, 3/18, 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 4/22 and 4/29

 

Class Description: This innovative ceramics art program offers an empowering outlet specifically for veterans. Through hands-on instruction in various pottery techniques, participants can explore their creativity, find solace in the tactile nature of clay, and connect with fellow veterans in a supportive community. The program aims to foster well-being, encourage self-expression, and provide a unique avenue for processing experiences and building new skills.
