Learn to infuse rhythm into your work—from the subtle motion of wind in wildflowers to figures captured in stride. We will focus on sketching distant figures using the classic Andrew Loomis method to create depth and scale. This course is an excellent opportunity to master water-soluble oils, a versatile, non-toxic medium that has been transformative for our students’ artistic practice. This mixed-skill studio environment welcomes returning students and seasoned oil painters to collaborate and learn from one another(see criteria below). Ages 16+

Intermediate & Advanced Students: Perfect for returning students who have studied with Lin before and are already comfortable with water-soluble oils. This track challenges you to depict intricate, distant figures and incorporate complex landscape details like wind-swept trees and foreground wildflowers. Please bring your own brushes, palette with a knife, and water-soluble oils from previous classes with Lin. Canvases are included with the class fee.
