Advanced Still Life Drawing

Offering this 6-week course in-person! Inspired by the still lifes in the exhibit "Right Place, Right Time: Paintings by Robert Coleman Jackson." Delve into how artists create meaning through rendering objects and discover the historical significance of why the still life has been the most popular subject matter of all time! Explore deeper elements of composition, master copies, developing an image over time, sighting/measurement, drawing from life, and more. Time will be allotted to work during class, offering one on one attention with instructor help and feedback.

Digital Photography

Offering this 6 week course in-person! Learn to see like a photographer and go from taking snapshots to purposeful, well-composed images that reflect your personal vision. Master the buttons and dials on your camera and shoot in modes other than Auto. This course introduces participants to the creative and technical possibilities of digital photography. Some off site subject mater near the museum and within walking distance downtown will be used for class projects and inspiration including visiting a professional photography studio!

In this class, you will design either a dangle or post pair of sterling silver earrings set with cabochon stones of your choosing. Learn metalsmithing techniques, such as soldering, cutting, and bezel setting to create a one of a kind piece of your very own. Have you taken a jewelry class before? Make a companion piece to match! Silver Spoon Ring Workshop

Offering this one-time workshop in-person! Enjoy a night creating your own spoon ring from silverware! Spoons will be provided or feel to bring you own heirloom pieces (Malleable silver or silver plated is preferred, no thick steel and stainless steel). Discover traditional metalsmithing techniques of sawing, hammering, and polishing. All skill levels welcome!

*Cost includes all supplies.
*If you bring your own pieces, please bring two spoons you don't mind ruining just in case the first attempt does not come out as desired.

Learn a variety of tricks and techniques utilizing light and reflections to create unique optical illusions! Play with glass, mirrors, prisms and more! Delve into the settings on your camera and shoot in modes other than Auto. Both on site and off site photography will take place (weather permitting) within walking distance of the museum.
