Born and raised in Michigan, Jennifer Rosseter received a BFA with honors from Kendall College of Art and Design, with an Illustration emphasis. Rosseter is a primarily self-taught ceramic artist, and award winning graphic designer and illustrator currently residing in St. Petersburg, Florida. 

Her professional background includes working as an art director, designer, and illustrator for creative agencies throughout Michigan and operating a boutique design firm, Image Creative Group, for over 25 years. Having spent much of her youth attending Saturday classes at the Toledo Museum of Art, and many hours wandering through the extensive Egyptian collection, I am influenced by the animals and stylized simplicity of Egyptian art forms.

Artist Statement

Jennifer Rosseter’s ceramic sculptures imagine a world inhabited by Curious Beasts—mythic guardians whose quiet presence transforms ordinary spaces into places of wonder. Inspired by the natural world yet untethered from specific species, these hand-built forms exist somewhere between animal, totem, and protector, keeping careful watch over the spaces they inhabit.

Each sculpture is meticulously constructed and layered with vibrant graphic surfaces, where color, pattern, and natural materials become integral to the narrative. Singular, paired, or multiplied eyes serve as the emotional center of each piece, suggesting awareness, vigilance, and a profound connection between the sculptures and their environments.

Balancing playfulness with quiet intensity, Rosseter’s Curious Beasts invite viewers to consider the unseen forces that shape our experience—the guardians we imagine, the comfort of watchful companions, and the possibility that protection can be found in the creatures of our own making. Her work reflects a lifelong practice of distilling complex ideas into bold, memorable forms while celebrating the beauty, mystery, and enduring presence of the natural world.

Artist Biography

Born and raised in Michigan, Jennifer Rosseter lives and works in St. Petersburg, Florida. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honors from Kendall College of Art and Design with an emphasis in Illustration.

Before dedicating her practice to ceramics, Rosseter built a career as an art director, designer, and illustrator, including more than twenty-five years leading her own boutique design studio. Her background in visual communication continues to inform her ceramic practice, where bold graphic surfaces, expressive form, and meticulous craftsmanship converge in sculptural works inspired by the natural world.
