FAMILY ART-MAKING WORKSHOP --- MONDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2026 FROM 11:00AM TO 3:00PM

Drop by the museum on Monday, February 16 from 11am to 3pm and create something fun together at our  "School's Out! FREE Monday" event!

This laid-back studio experience encourages family fun through creative exploration at various art stations in the Museum’s studio classroom. Art activities are inspired by CMA's exhibit, "Shattered Glass: Women Who Elevated American Art," and encourage artists of all levels to explore and create imaginative artwork to take home.

Featured Art Projects:

  • Embossed Foil Collage: Inspired by the exhibition, Shattered Glass, families create a collage using metallic foil, texture objects and oil pastels to represent breaking barriers.
  • Nature-Up-Close Painting: Reflecting on the colorful and magnified natural subjects of women artists like Georgia O'Keeffe, family members arrange their own still lives using natural objects and paint an enlarged, zoomed-in version using washable acrylic paint and mini canvases.
  • Drippy Gel Fidget Creations: Inspired by feminist artists like Lee Krasner (Abstract Expressionist painter) and Selma Burke (Bronze Sculptor), families mix basic kitchen ingredients to create abstract, bronze-colored, and layered gels that can be manipulated into sculptural creations.
  • Upcycled Assemblage: Give new meaning to discarded materials by arranging them to tell a personal story, in the style of Louise Nevelson.

This is a FREE event!

All ages are welcome, but most enjoyed by children ages 3+, and accompanied by a grownup. Pre-registration is required.

Deadline to register is 02/14/2026
