Animal Visions: Judith Brandon (April 27, 2027- October 31, 2027)

“In my recent body of work, I explore animals not merely as subjects of nature, but as sentinels of unseen worlds. These creatures gaze through portals—symbolic thresholds between the known and the unknown. Their eyes reflect not just instinct, but a deeper awareness of the shifting veils that separate dimensions. Animals have a focus and a purpose that appears unwavering, and I have always admired this.
I am drawn to the question: Do animals sense the thinning of the veil differently than humans? Have we lost our instincts? Are we surrendering too much of our attention to technology? In the animal’s stillness, I see a knowing. Each painting is a meditation on this silent wisdom: a dialogue between the animal, the divine, and me, the scribe. Animals often appear in my atmospheric work. The eraser glides through the charcoal and pastel, and an animal appears as if it were planned. At one point, I decided they should have the full stage. I learned about fur and feathers and studied their habits. New challenges and new visions accompany the work. I wonder, what the hell am I doing? And that’s when I know I should keep going.
I invite viewers to pause and look with the eyes of an animal and the heart of a human. To feel not just the chaos of destruction but the beauty in the tremors of change. To imagine a new world that lies beyond the portal, and what it means to cross it.”
