CERAMICS

Independent Study Terms*:

Studio Access: Your tuition covers access to the studio during open hours (fluctuating between 70–100 hours/month on average), a storage locker, use of studio equipment, and mentorship from a professional teaching artist during set times.

Hours & Availability: Open studio time runs concurrently with the museum's seasonal class schedule. Access is limited to the dates listed above; studio time is unavailable outside these dates or when classes are not in session.

Requirements: Students are required to assist in maintaining the studio space. Due to specific equipment and safety procedures, this program is restricted to students who have completed their prerequisites at the CMA; experience from other institutions does not qualify.

ALPHA-ROMEO-TANGO (A.R.T.) PROGRAM FOR VETERANS
Join our supportive creative community at the Canton Museum of Art. The A.R.T. program is exclusively for U.S. veterans, active-duty service members, and National Guard or Reserve personnel, offering creative outlets to foster well-being, connection, and self-expression.
What We Offer:

Guitar Classes (10-Week Series): Led by instructor Denny Vlahos (Fretz4Vets) at the Canton Museum of Art (Wilkof Courtyard). This beginner’s acoustic guitar course in basic technique will introduce various styles of music; such as blues, folk, and jazz led with a focus on music appreciation and social engagement in a small group setting.

Cost: Classes are free for verified veterans, active-duty personnel and first responders.

Included in Ceramics series: All necessary clay, tools, glazes, firings, and instruction.

Included in Guitar series: Guitar and accessories, coursebook and small group instruction.
