Now offering this NEW two-day workshop in-person! Carnival celebrations have taken place for centuries all around the world. Each one culturally unique, full of pageantry, costumes, and fun! In this workshop, students will learn about the history of Carnival masks and create a whimsical paper mache head of their very own. Have fun being a little silly and use your sense of humor to create exaggerated features using paper mache techniques to bring your sculptures to life. All experience levels welcome.

Students will discover how artist, Matthew Christopher, captures the mesmerizing beauty and lost history of various derelict buildings. His artwork advocates for rehabilitation and reuse by emphasizing the cultural importance of preservation.

Enjoy a short lecture with Bert Nero, an Ikebana (The Art of Japanese Flower Arranging) practitioner, who will speak on her experiences and the history of Ikebana. Then create a vase inspired by these beautiful arrangements. Students will use basic hand building techniques to make a ceramic container suitable for displaying their own Ikebana inspired flower arrangement. All skill levels welcome
