Offering this 6-week course in person! Throughout this class, learn different techniques to design, cut, and assemble glass and how to use the kiln to fuse and slump your creations. In this session, we will focus on shaping and inserting different metals including silver, copper, and nichrome into your glass to make jewelry, glass panels, and small plates to name a few projects. Offering this 12 week class in our ceramics studios! This class is available for advanced students that have taken at least four ceramics classes at CMA or have received instructor approval to take the class. Form, surface design, glazing, and firing will be explored in greater depth during this class. Advanced students who have taken five or more CMA ceramics classes or working at a level determined to be advanced by the instructor will be required to do their own firing in cooperation with the Canton Ceramic Artists Guild to deepen their understanding of the process.

Learn metalsmithing techniques, such as soldering, cutting, and bezel setting to create a one-of-a-kind piece of your very own. Have you taken a jewelry class before? Make a companion piece to match! Offering this 6-week course in person! Learn to see like a photographer and go from taking snapshots to purposeful, well-composed images that reflect your personal vision. Master the buttons and dials on your camera and shoot in modes other than Auto. This course introduces participants to the creative and technical possibilities of digital photography. Some off-site subject matter near the museum and within walking distance downtown will be used for class projects and inspiration including visiting a professional photography studio! Topics include camera operation, shutter speed, aperture, ISO, white balance, lighting, and composition. New and experienced photographers are welcome. Taken the class before? Advanced ceramics students are now eligible for independent study at CMA! This option is available for a limited number of students that have taken at least three ceramics classes at CMA. Your registration fee provides access to the studio during all open studio hours, a locker for storage, access to studio tools and equipment, and a professional teaching artist mentor available to get you set up and answer any questions you may have through email. Studio hours run from 4/16/23 - 7/2/23 which coincides with our winter ceramics class schedule. Students must be willing to sign an agreement and are capped at 50 lbs of clay per session. As an educational ceramics studio maintained by our Canton Ceramics Artists Guild volunteers who fire students' work, we are unable to accommodate production potters. Students with ceramics experience outside of CMA are not eligible for registration as students will need a strong working knowledge of CMA studio safety and procedures.
